The code has not arrived - what to do

There is no password here to reset. There is one code, it goes to your email, and this is how to get it to turn up.

First, the short version: there is no password on this site, so there is nothing to reset. The only code we send is the short one that releases a paper download, and if that is what has not arrived, start at the list below.

Getting the code to arrive

  • Give it a minute before assuming it failed. It is usually seconds, but mail is mail.
  • Check spam, and any promotions or updates tab. A first message from an unfamiliar sender lands there more often than not.
  • Read the address back. One wrong character sends a real code to a real inbox that is not yours - the panel will resend to a corrected address.
  • Try a personal address rather than a work or school one. Filtered outbound mail on an institutional network stops the code without stopping the site.
  • Ask again. Requesting the paper a second time issues a fresh code; nothing is used up and nothing is held against you.

The code goes to your email. There is a mobile field beside it, and today no code is sent there - so a missing SMS is not the problem you are having.

A code that worked and a link that has since died are different problems. Download links last 48 hours by design, and asking again is the entire fix - your download link expired covers it.

Why there is no password

Because there is no account for one to protect. Verifying an address to receive a file is not registration, and a password you never set cannot be stolen, forgotten or reused from somewhere else. Do you need an account? is the longer answer.
