To get a photocopy of a CBSE Class 10 answer sheet, apply online after the second board exam's results. CBSE calls it a scanned copy of the evaluated answer book. In 2026 it cost Rs 300 per subject, and the copy appeared in the student's own login. You can then ask for verification or re-evaluation (also spelt revaluation).

When do photocopy, verification and re-evaluation open?

"Facilities of Photocopy, verification and re-evaluation will be available only after declaration of results of 2nd examination for both the examinations i.e. Main and 2nd examinations."

That is from CBSE's notification on the two board exams. In 2026, the first results came on 15 April and the second on 18 July. The notice for these services came on 5 August, for both exams together.

A timeline of CBSE Class 10 in 2026: main exam in February, results in April with no copy yet, second exam in May, second results in July - planned for June, they came on 18 July in 2026. Only after the second results, and for both exams, the checks open. For 2026 Class 10, CBSE's notice of 5 August 2026 set the order: get a copy of the answer book first, then check the totals, ask for a fresh look, or both.
All three open only after the second exam's results. For 2026 Class 10, CBSE's notice of 5 August 2026 put the copy first, then either check or both.

So the marked February paper cannot help you decide about the May exam. That choice is made from the mark sheet and the question paper. Should your child sit the second board exam? covers how to decide without it.

How do you get a photocopy of your CBSE answer sheet?

  • Apply online, in the window CBSE sets for your year. Late or offline requests are not accepted.
  • Pay online, by UPI, card or net banking. In 2026 the fee was Rs 300 per subject.
  • The scanned copy appears in your login. Anything that shows who the examiner was is hidden.
  • If your child sat a subject in both exams, you can ask for either answer book, or both.

CBSE asks students to apply themselves and check every detail. It will not take responsibility for errors made by a cyber cafe or other helper.

What is the difference between verification of marks and re-evaluation?

They check different things. You can ask for either one, or both.

  • Verification of marks is a check of the totals. Was every answer marked? Were the step marks added correctly, copied onto the cover correctly, and totalled to the mark on your result? It does not judge any answer again.
  • Re-evaluation is a fresh look at whole questions you choose, against the marking scheme. You must give a reason for each question. It covers the full question, never just one part.

Both cover the written paper only. They do not reopen the school's internal marks.

Do you need the photocopy first?

In 2026, yes. CBSE's 2026 notice for Class 10 said only students who had the scanned copy could apply for verification or re-evaluation. CBSE first moved the copy to the front in 2025, so that students could see the marking before asking for a check.

The rules are set again for each year's results. Read the notice for your year before you apply.

If your child sat both exams, which answer book can be checked?

Only one. For a subject sat in both exams, you can get both copies. But verification and re-evaluation apply to just one of them, February's or May's. Once you pick one, the other cannot be checked. The two board exams explains the wider scheme.

How do you apply for re-evaluation in CBSE Class 10?

  • Download the question paper and the marking scheme for your child's set from CBSE's website.
  • Mark each answer yourself against the scheme. How step marking works shows how marks are split across steps.
  • Choose the whole questions where the answer matches the scheme but the marks do not.
  • Write a clear reason for each one, and apply online with the fee.

Each step can be applied for only once. So decide on every subject and question before you submit. Is re-evaluation worth it? helps you judge which questions to put forward.

What are the fees, and when is the last date?

ServiceFee in 2026
Scanned copy of the answer bookRs 300 per subject
Verification of marksRs 300 per answer book
Re-evaluationRs 100 per question, including all its parts

If marks go up after a check, CBSE refunds that fee. In 2026, requests for the scanned copy were open from 5 to 9 August. The last date is set in each year's notice, and late requests are not accepted. Check the notice on cbse.gov.in when the second results are out.

What happens after you apply?

  • The outcome is posted in the same login. CBSE does not send a separate message.
  • Marks may go up, go down, or stay the same. A drop of even one mark is applied.
  • If marks change, the old mark sheet is returned and a new one is issued.
  • The outcome is final. No appeal or further review is accepted.

A copy can also be asked for under the RTI Act, the Right to Information law. But re-evaluation cannot be requested that way.

How does rechecking work for ICSE Class 10?

ICSE uses two steps with short windows. The CISCE regulations for the ICSE exam set them out. These rules are from CISCE's latest published edition, the one for the 2028 exam. Check the edition for your child's exam year.

  • Recheck: apply online within four days of the results. It checks that every answer was marked and the totals were right.
  • Re-evaluation: apply within three days of the recheck results. The new marks, higher or lower, are final.
  • Fees are set per subject or paper by CISCE. The re-evaluation fee is not refunded.
  • CISCE does not let candidates see answer scripts or copies of them.

Where this fits

These services check how the scheme was applied. They do not change the passing rules. What the passing rules actually say covers those. Where anything here differs from the board's current notice, the notice governs.
